English sterling silver Cellini pattern Claret Jug by George Fox, having a full set of London Hallmarks for 1876. It is of classical Renaissance Revival ewer form, chased throughout with strapwork, mask heads, arabesques, animals and foliage against a matt ground, with a sculptural caryatid scroll handle, engraved with double crests, one of a crown with a raised wreathed arm holding a flag, the other an armed fist holding a dagger. Weighing 868 grams or 27.9 ozs. Troy, this spectacular ewer or jug is 11 5/8" tall. It appears that the ewer may have originally had a spout cover. Impressively done in a neoclassical revival style, this regal and substantial coin silver pitcher was flawlessly crafted in Danbury, Connecticut by master silversmiths of Levi Clark, c.1830. He was an apprentice and later partner of John Starr Blackman and this elegant pitcher is a rare example of this makers work. The ample body is complemented by a curving handle and a generous, well formed lip with attractive pedestal and decorative border embellishment. The graceful handle is solidly formed and securely mounted to the body with no repairs or modifications. The pedestal base is beautifully formed and rests completely flat. Danish 830 Silver Wine Pitcher by the Master Silversmith, Anton Michelsen, date marked 1898. This exquisite, hinged, lidded antique solid silver pitcher has applied grapes and grapevines on the bulbous body and four collared bands on the bottom and top of the straight, cylindrical neck. The C shaped handle and the hinged lid are in excellent condition. Both the underside of the base and the lid have a full set of marks, wiuth the underside of the base having the expanded marks. This useful and very attractive wine pitcher is 7 3/8" tall, 5" in diameter, 5 1/2" across the handle and weighs a substantial 550 grams or 17.7 ozs. Troy.
