This handsome half round box is 8 1/4" long, 5 1/2" wide, 1 1/4" deep and weighs 708 grams or 22.7 ozs Troy, it is monogrammed MMR in a period script. English sterling silver sealing wax cylinder, seal, match and taperstick safe with striker and taper stick holder by Samuel Jacob having a full set of London Hallmarks for 1896. This scarce and desirable combination sealing wax tool has a long chamber for the sealing wax with a domed V notched topped hinged cap having a man in 16th Century attire as a finial. The short chamber for the matches and tapersticks has a flat topped hinged cap used as a seal, with the initials LIG. The cylinder rests on two elongated ball feet and the striker is on the cylinder atop the short match chamber. The nozzle for the mini taperstick sits just behind the striker. The body of the cylinder has bands ofalternating scroll and floral and swirling fluted Repousse decorations. Both hinges are clean and tight and both caps open and close properly and securely. Weighing 38 grams or 1.2 ozs. Troy, this superb cylinder is 9 1/4" long and 1/2" in diameter. It would make the perfect gift for the person who has almost everything. Monogrammed, if the seal initials would be considered a monogram, as described above, the soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing. Modeled after The Swarm of Cupids painting by the French artist Jean-Honoré Fragonard, the ornate cover has a larger blank reserve in he center and a baluster border. Austrian 800 silver, porcelain and glass double ink stand, made in Vienna c.1890 – 1910. This elegant inkstand features an oval tray with a band of ribbon decorations having an openwork, floral gallery, sitting on four, square cast, beaded and block feet. The silver mounted turquoise porcelain ink wells have their glass inserts. One well has an old crack in the body. The silver mountings are decorated with leaf and berry decorations and the hinged caps have pomegranate finials. There is a well marked, original, silver reflective plate under the glass that gives a mirror-like effect to the glass. The entire inkstand is well marked and in excellent condition, save for the noted crack in the body of one well. Dimensions: Height: 1 ¼” Height to the finial of the inkwell: 3 ¼” Length: 10 ¾” Width: 7 ¼” Maker & Marks: RS in a cartouche, three intertwined rings in an irregular hexagon, and crossed pickaxes in a square denote a good Viennese maker whom I am unable to identify. This stunning inkstand was retailed by Schwarz & Steiner of Vienna, Austria.

Sterling silver Arts & Crafts Cheroot or small cigar box with an applied gilt and enameled panel depicting a smoking and wine drinking happy green man in a whimsical costume. His red shoes add a nice touch. If Pablo Picasso didn’t design this box, he should have.

This hand made, hand hammered box is in excellent original condition, with no monograms, removals, repairs or alterations. It has substantial weight for its size and a gilt interior. The enameled panel is secured to the lid by four studs..

We are not sure of its origin. It could be Spanish or even American, c.1920 - 1940. The only marks are 925 and a crown.
