American sterling silver shaker by The Loring Andrews Company of Cincinnati, Ohio, c.1880 - 1900.
This very special shaker has a Baluster body with Repousse shell, floral and scroll decorations and a conforming pedestal base.
The bayonet mount top has Repousse shell and scroll decorations with cut work in between and a cast floral finial.
Weighing 187 grams or 5.8 ozs. Troy, this attractive shaker or caster is 7 5/8" tall and 2 3/4" in diameter.
The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.
The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no monograms, removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
We also have, from the same estate, the original of this shaker made in Bremen Germany, c.1770 - 1790. It is interesting to note the differences in construction and decoration techniques and how well this copy was made 100 years later.
The original is priced separately at $1795, or, purchased with this shaker, the pair would be $2295.
They make an interesting pair.
