Tall, airy and elegant, this impressive American sterling silver vase is an Art Nouveau treasure. Expertly crafted in San Francisco only a few years after the great earthquake and fire of 1906 by Shreve & Co., where it may have graced an opulent and tasteful home, perhaps on Nob Hill.
It stands an impressive 14 1/4" inches in height and weighs a substantial 504 grams or 16.2 troy ounces with a loaded base to stabilize it. Even more magnificent when it is full of big gorgeous blooms like lush purple irises, bright orange stargazer lillies or dramatic red roses. It features a lovely monogramed letter M, which is artistically worked into a playful unfurling ribbon motif. It is complemented by a beautiful applied iris floral embellishment on the lower portion of the body which drapes gracefully around the base. It awaits your magnificent bouquet to even more perfectly accentuate it′s noble and elegant form.
The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.
