English sterling silver 6 dessert spoons in the Rose pattern by Elizabeth Eaton having a full set of London Hallmarks for 1848. Each of these fabulous and historically significant spoons has a double struck handle and a double shell back stamped bowl with a scalloped edge and a gilt fluted interior. Weighing a total of 409 grams or 13.2 ozs. Troy, each of these spoons is 7 1/8" long and has a rampant Unicorn holding a diamond Crest on the back of the handle. All of the marks are clear and well struck and match, with the Crests all being nicely engraved and clear. Elizabeth Eaton was a prominent Silversmith in her own right, as she worked with her husband up until his death in 1845, then carrying on as the sole proprietor until 1858, when she took her son as a partner. The business was sold to Henry Holland and Sons in 1864. Inscribed as described above, the soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.
