American coin silver mustard pot in a figural swan design by John L Westervelt, Newburgh, New York, c.1860.
This delightful hinged lid pot has an engine turned body with an ornately bordered cartouche inscribed Virginia. The interior of the body is gilt.
This very desirable, figural, swan handled mustard pot is 4 1/2" tall, 3 5/8" across the handles, and weighs 143 grams or 4.6 ozs Troy.
Inscribed as described above, the excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
The soft, warm, original antique finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.
