On the front side, there is an engraved inscription "Barnards Inn" with a crest below, reverse side is inscribed "Johannes Baines. Arm. Prin. D⋅D MDCCCXXII". Boats have full set of hallmarks by George Ibbot, London, 1762.
Barnard's Inn is located in Holborn, London. It dates at least to the mid 13th century and is currently the home of Gresham College. The Inn is also mentioned in Charles Dickens' Great Expectations in chapter 21.
