A stunning and regal Russian locking casket with a striking figural boar finial, beautifully embellished with acorn and oak leaf motif. It features highly detailed applied decorative boars heads in profile on the sides and it rests upon four wild boar piglets. Made in Czarist Russia by mastersilversmith and jeweler Alexander Kazimirovich Vyrzhikovsky, assayed in Kiev 1892. This rare item is fully hallmarked and has never been monogrammed. A cleverly crafted locking mechanism wont allow the box to shut and lock unless it is closed and locked by the key. It is designed to make it impossible to lock the key in the box. What an elegant way to protect your your most valuable or sacred treasures. Whether it is an antique gold pocket watch or a very private thumbdrive....this is an important box in which important things should be kept. It measures 6 1/2" long, 4 1/4" wide, and stands 5 1/2" tall to the top of the finial. It weighs a substantial 1009 grams or 32.5 ozs Troy. American sterling silver Aesthetic 3-D figural cream ladle expertly crafted by Whiting, New York City c. 1870. This stunning work of art has a fabulous cast bird and peach finial mounted on a forked branch. The bird is poised to get the peach, which is mounted to he ends of the fork. The finial is mounted to a three wire, beaded collar mounted handle which splays out to hold a fluted and lobed scalloped edge, gilt, double spouted bowl. This scarce and collectible 3-D design cream or sauce ladle measures 7 3/4" in length and weighs 37 grams or 1.18 Troy ounces. The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no monograms, removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
