Antique German 12 Loth (.750) silver ornate oval form basket with a swing handle. It has openwork sides, featuring whimsical Egyptian motif decorations with grape and floral patterns. In bowl, there is an attached griffin figure. Handle is accented with repousse rose flower vines. Made by Gerike, Berlin, c. 1820-1830.
This spectacular basket is 9 1/2" long, 7 5/8" wide, 1 5/8" tall with 4 1/2" tall handle and weighs 267.3 grams or 8.62 ozs Troy.
The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.
The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no monograms, removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
