French 950 sterling silver in spout tea strainer basket, decorated with an applied ribbon & thread band around the body and foliate piercings on the bottom. It has an engraved Crowned Lion Shield crest on the front. Made by Louis Coignet, 14 Rue de Barbette, Paris c. 1889-1893. Silver mark with bigorne.
This handsome tea strainer is 1 3/4" in top diameter, 1 1/4" in base diameter and 1" tall, swing handle is 1 1/2" tall. It weighs 28.4 grams or 0.9 ozs Troy.
The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.
The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
