Majestic French sterling silver and cut crystal claret decanter, expertly hand wrought by reknown Parisian silversmith, Henri Sufflot. He produced his greatest works between 1885 to 1905 and this regal treasure was crafted by hand in 1901. A stunning piece that stands 10 1/2" in height, masterfully done in French first standard, 950 purity silver, an even higher purity than traditional 925 sterling silver. The handle is magnificently embellished with a foliate scrollwork motif. It is enhanced by a lovely repousse foliate base, spout and complemented by an opulent gold vermeil interior. It has a Minerva’s head hallmark for French first standard 950 purity silver, the eagle’s head guarantee mark, and a maker’s mark of HS for Henri Soufflot. Structurally, this rare and century old decanter is in pristine condition. It stands ready to pour your favorite mature vintage of Latour, or Lafite-Rothschild, because a top notch claret deserves a worthy decanter.
The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing
