Danish 830 standard silver Arts and Crafts style hand made, hand hammered large tea caddy, assay marked for Copenhagen, 1919, with the DA Hammer mark for Dansk Arbejoe or The National Association of Danish Enterprise, or, literally, Danish Work. The caddy also has slightly later Swedish marks for Helsingborg (Halsingborg), Sweden, 1928, GB, likely for the retailer, Gustav Bengs, engraver and Goldsmith. Sciarrotta was smuggled out of Italy into the US during World War II to work on submarine technology. These were retailed in his own shop and eventually by a few select stores including Shreve Crump & Low, Gorham, Bailey Banks & Biddle, and Cartier.
