English 18 K Gold London City Livery Badge for the Worshipful Company Painters and Stainers issued to George Clulow, who was Master from 1904 - 1905, by F. Cook, manufacturing Jeweller, having a full set of 18K London Hallmarks for 1909. The livery badge comes with its original blue and white woven silk neck ribbon, to which is attached an white enameled star rosette from which the badge is suspended by a Hallmarked jump ring. The badge itself has the Arms of the Company in blue, red, white and black enamel, with the Company′s motto: Amor et Obedientia, or: Love and Obedience being below. The emblazoned shield is supported by two Rampant lions and topped by a winger Griffin sitting in a crown. This very special and extremely scarce Livery Badge comes in its original presentation box from the maker: F. Cook Manufacturing Jeweller 59 Long Lane E.C. & 179 High Rd Streatham S.W. The box has a velvet backed swing out fitted panel for the Badge. The ribbon fits behind the hinged panel. The box has white satin lining. The Badge, ribbon, ribbon clasps, and box are all in superb condition, with all of the enamel being intact. The badge alone weighs 45 grams and is 1 3/4" wide, and 1 7/8" tall. The box is 5 7/8" long, 3 3/4" wide and 1 1/8" deep.
